Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two
Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far
Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are
- Danny Kaye
It looks like inchworms measure in powers of two. Two, four, eight, sixteen. At any rate, this is a lovely childrens song. I remembered it yesterday when the kids and I found an inchworm in the backyard. Today, Matthew was saying that the inchworm went home. Maybe he'll come back someday.
