I woke up early this morning. Before the kids woke up. Before the sun rose. Although I was still half asleep, I was suprisingly graceful. It was almost as if I was floating through a dream.
The house was quite small, with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a small bathroom with a stand up shower. The one thing I miss about my old apartment is being able to relax in a warm bath. I would come home after classes and just soak in lavendar scented bubbles. Sometimes I would read a book in the bath tub or even fall asleep.
To my surprise, I found a door that I had never seen before. It was open, and inside was a washing machine, a sink, a toilet and a full size bath tub. It was a second bathroom! This did not seem terribly odd. In fact I was delighted.
What was strange was that the washing machine was still going. It was full of soapy water and wet clothes. The machine was in wash cycle. I supposed that the woman who lived here before me left it on before she "left."
I looked all around the bathroom. It wasn't particularly clean. The toilet needed a good scrubbing, but that was not unusual since the water had been sitting there for some time. I was alreadly making plans to slip into a bubble bath when I took a second look at the bath tub. This time, the walls were covered in blood stains.
I have got to stop dreaming about this woman.
