Inchworm

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two

Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far

Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are

- Danny Kaye

It looks like inchworms measure in powers of two. Two, four, eight, sixteen. At any rate, this is a lovely childrens song. I remembered it yesterday when the kids and I found an inchworm in the backyard. Today, Matthew was saying that the inchworm went home. Maybe he'll come back someday.

My Happy Place

I had a good day today. I had an ordinary day today. I had a relaxing day, mostly. I did some laundry and shopping, and more laundry and shopping. I washed five loads of laundry today and I hung them out on the line to dry.

My kids played in the yard. My daughter likes to swing on the disk shaped swing that is tied to a tree branch. I know they were quite happy today.

One of the highlights of my day was finding an inch worm. It was a cute little thing. My kids were very excited about it. They both couldn't wait to hold it. I told them to be very careful, because it was just a baby. My son, who repeats everything, was saying "just a baby." And they were both very careful when it was their turn to hold the little inch worm.

Next week, I'll be going back to work and to an intense summer session course. Days like these are few and far between. For the next two days, I'm going to enjoy this time at home. I hope the weather is good. There are so many things I would like to do.

It's Been A While...

It's been a while since I've written in my blog. I have signed up for summer classes. Hopefully I'll get to work 20 hours per week here in NSS. Grades are not yet in, so I'm waiting patiently for that.

It's raining again. Hard to believe it's almost June. I've been thinking about how many more semesters I'll be here before I graduate. I think it will take me 3 semesters. I should schedule another meeting with my advisor so I can know for sure.

The end of a semester is a tiny milestone. I did it. I'm ok. Next week summer classes will begin. Wish me luck.

Road Trip

To celebrate the end of finals, Bassel and I decided to go on a road trip. He is planning a camping trip for next week, so we went there to check it out. And here is what we did... I will add more pics soon.

One Down, One to Go

I took my first final exam of the semester today for CS377, Operating Systems. I'm not thrilled about it. In fact, I kinda dozed off in the middle of it. Hopefully it won't bring down my grade too drastically.

Tomorrow, I will take my second and last final exam, French 120. I'm studying a little. Sortof. Thinking about it.

I can't wait 'til this summer. I'll be taking two classes. Non Compsci, even. Pretty cool. During the first session, I'll take History 100 (Western Thought) and Physics II. I know that Physics is a difficult course.

I also plan on continuing work at Networking this summer. Unless... I can get a job tutoring. I really enjoy helping people learn, especially Math. So many people have a hard time with Math. I know what it's like to struggle through Math classes.

Love Profusion

There are too many questions
There is not one solution
There is no resurrection
There is so much confusion

And the love profusion
You make me feel
You make me know
And the love vibration
You make me feel
You make it shine

There are too many options
There is no consolation
I have lost my illusions
What I want is an explanation

And the love profusion
You make me feel...

Forgive me for not practicing. I just wanted to share this.
I sing Love Profusion!

The Matrix

Today has been a good day. Classes are officially over for the semester. Next week I will take my final exams, but for now I am resting and maybe studying a little.

I saw The Matrix Reloaded this morning. That was cool. I hardly ever get out to the movies. The only real dissapointment was that urgo did not save me a seat next to him :(

I have to say that Keanu Reeves still cannot act. When he said It's a bomb - let's get out of here! with no emotion I had to make fun of it immediately. I got to sit next to afrosoft and make sarcastic comments and tickle him :)

I just learned this week that I will not have full time summer employment, so I will have more free time than I had anticipated. I'm thinking of taking a summer class, but I'm not sure which one. Maybe I'll actually get to go to the beach this year.

I am so spent. I can't wait for this semester to be over and done with. I need a vacation.

Yes, I have two small children, I am working on my bachelors degree in computer science, and I work in Networking Services part time. It is alot like juggling, or some kind of balancing act. It is difficult to prioritize. Not impossible. I can do it.

I keep reminding myself that can't please everyone. I have to decide what's important. But what is important? I really need a break. Every day is the same. No rewards, only bills, responsibilities. I guess I'm a grownup now.

This CS377 Project is bringing me down!

I am working on a java program for my CS377 project. It is a pain in the ass. I have a partner. It sucks when you write a method, and your partner rewrites it entirely. Oh, well. It is almost over. As long as we get a decent grade.

The Programmer

All these keys in front of me

Saying nothing

They just sit and wait

To be pressed

For me to give them some

Kind of new meaning

Seeing nothing

But waiting to feel

My fingers

They offer me nothing

Just a jumbled up alphabet

Almost senseless

What makes you think

I can decode this

HELP! I'M ADDICTED TO BLOGGING!

You've probably seen my splash screen. Perhaps you were expecting to find munchkins, witches, and flying monkeys in here... This is my blog - the only creative outlet I have to express myself with (publicly).

:)

I had a great weekend! I have the best friends ever! So, check out their blogs... afrosoft, urgo and myself went out this Saturday. I love singing Karaoke.

There was a stupid riot here at umass. It kept me from going home when I wanted to becuase the police had to block off the road. The students trashed the bus stop. Great job, Amherst P.D.

I think I got whiplash...

I woke up in so much pain this morning. I can barely move my neck today. It hurts all through my neck and shoulder and when I turn my head, the pain shoots up from my neck to the top of my head...

You see, I got into a little car accident yestarday. Not even a fender bender. No fenders were bent. Just a little love tap from the car behind me. But, oh, the agony!

This is what happened today...

Actually, today was much like every other day. I worked in the morning. Inspected some more node rooms. I went to dance class. That was alot of fun. We danced swing and then salsa.

After class, I picked up the kids. We went out for pizza at Antonios. As we sat there eating pizza, I noticed a man looking through the garbage cans outside. He picked out a couple of half-eaten pizza crusts. I thought about giving him money.

When the time came to leave, I was ready to go to Starbucks for some latte. So, the kids and I ventured out down the street. I saw that man again, eating the tossed out pizza. I said "wait a minute, kids." I reached in my wallet and got all the money I had - $5.

"Excuse me," I said to the man. "Can I buy you a slice of pizza?"
