Classes Are Over

Yesterday was the last day of class. I submitted my last comsci 311 homework yesterday and my last French homework. I wrote my last piece of code for 320. I attended my last 305 lecture. I still have more work to do before finals next week. There's a rumor that an 'A' on the 311 final exam will get you an 'A' in the class. What is the probability of that happening?

After finals, classes don't start up again until late January. We can start it all over again then.

Sick Kitty

My cat was recently hospitazized. He had a blockage due to his diet and he couldn't pee. His bladder swelled up and the doctor had to insert a catheder to allow him to empty his bladder. He's feeling much better now. He'll be taking 6 pills a day for the next couple weeks and I have to keep him on a special diet from now on.

Missing You

I found out today that a friend of mine passed away yesterday. Todd. He was 33 years old. I've known him almost all of my life. He was a little older than me, I was friends with his younger sister, Cynthia.

Some years ago he had kidney failure and had to have a donor kidney. He was on a lot of medication just to keep his body from rejecting the organ. The medicines had many bad side effects. I remember the last time I saw him; his ankles were swollen and his hands were shaky. He took what seemed to be handfuls of pills. He had to.

Todd was very nice. He loved to learn. He spent more years in college than a doctor but he only aquired many associates degrees, choosing to stay at the local community college. He couldn't go very far from home because of his health problems.

I remember having a conversation with him about my daughter. She was just a baby then. He said that someday she's going to have a lot of questions for you, like why is the sky blue. He was right. She's very inquisitive.

I'm going to miss him. I find it hard to believe that I will never see him again. I didn't want to cry when I found out, but eventually I did. He must be among the angels now.

Life

Right now my life feels a bit strange. Like it doesn't fit quite right. I had a good thanksgiving. I am so proud of myself for making the turkey and side dishes by myself. My mom helped with some of it. Ok the turkey was a little dry, but I was expecting it to be a disaster. Call me a pessimist. Or a realist.

I had an interesting class today. My software engineering class had to get up into groups and make a company name, product, vision statement, mission statement and buisiness plan. My company was "flying monkeys" and we sold - you guessed it - flying monkeys! I got nominated to be president and had to announce the company name, product, etc, in front of the class.

Two out of the five groups had porn companies. Did I mention I was the only girl in a class of over 40 guys? I think to myself, do I really belong here? My professor asked me, in so many words, if I thought the class was offensive and if the ppl should be spoken to about it.

I didn't expect him to ask my opinion and I pretty much told him that I've learned to accept that men are pigs and he agreed with me. He's going to talk about that social aspect of software engineering in lecture tomorrow.

I wonder why these guys think they are so clever. Porn - you don't see that every day! Yeah, right.
